 About Me 

Hi everyone my name is Laura and I am a nineteen year old christian girl who loves art and music. I am also a fangirl who is into A LOT of fandoms but the main fandoms that I am into are Star Wars, Pixar, Disney, Marvel, and The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings. In my spare time when I am not blogging you will probably find me drawing and creating characters, practicing my instruments, listening to soundtracks, listening to music and worshiping God through that music, and (re)watching my favorite shows and fangirling about them 😆. 

 

Music

I have always loved music from a young age. I am woodwind doubler who currently plays Flute and Alto Saxophone. I have been playing the flute for around 7 years now and when I first heard the flute you could say that it was love at first site 😅. I have only been playing Alto Saxophone for a year so far. Playing the Alto Saxophone has been an interesting transition from the flute but the saxophone has opened up my perspective and the saxophone got me into learning Jazz. 

I was originally raised on classical music but I have transitioned to learning Jazz music in January of 2021. I still play classical repertoire on my flute but jazz has been my main focus. Some of my current favorite composers/players are Cecile Chaminade, Igor Stravinsky, Alexa Tarantino, Charlie Parker, Benny Goodman, Sammy Nestico, Michael Giacchino, Randy Newman, and Thomas Newman.

Art

 I have been drawing basically since I could hold a pencil but started taking drawing seriously when I was 12. I love making the ideas that I have come to life and watching the drawing go from a tiny sketch to a finished piece. The main art mediums that I use are Copic Markers, Colored pencils, and gel pens but in September of 2020 I started to use and really enjoy gouache paint because it has the opacity of acrylic but is like using watercolor. I have been having a weird relationship with art within the past year and creating hasn't been as fun but I guess that could be because I've been taking an art class. Whatever happens in the future with my art, I will have full trust in God that he will use the talents that he gave me according to his will. 

Why I Started This Blog? 

I decided to start this blog because I wanted to have a separate place where I could share my interests, help others, write down my thoughts, and have a space where I could write a lot more than on an instagram post. I also wanted a little bit more flexibility with the topics I wanted to write about within a certain topic. I hope that what I'm writing will inspire you and help you try to get out of your comfort zone. 

My name for this blog came from the fact that I play the flute and when people read my blog I want them to have a fantastic day so I combined flute and fantastic together to get flutetastic. 

I wanted to use this page to glorify God because all of the talents I have are not mine they are actually given to me by him to share his glory. I will be sharing the lessons that God has taught me through my journey of being both an artist and a musician because God uses the gifts that he has given us to use for lessons to help us grow. 

I hope that if you stick around you will be inspired and possibly even apply some of the things that I have learned and shared through God.
